Smoking is a global problem

Every year, millions of individuals and families suffer serious harm from tobacco smoke and second-hand smoke. According to the World Health Organization, tobacco use kills more than seven million people worldwide each year. Nothing else comes close to combustible tobacco as a cause of preventable death and disease.

Of the roughly 1.3 billion smokers in the world today, more than 70% want to quit but have no means of doing so. Without proper support, only about 4% succeed.

Smokers face many obstacles in moving to a lower-impact lifestyle. We looked closely at those obstacles and asked ourselves: is there a way to live with nicotine that does not demand giving up, and does not hurt?
